A dynamic QR code lets you edit a link after printing. Smart routing adds a schedule: send scans to different URLs by time of day and day of week, with a default destination whenever no rule matches.

These rules repeat every Friday. Disable or update them after a one-off event.

How a scan chooses its destination

Time of day

Set a start time, end time, and timezone. A 09:00–17:00 rule matches from 09:00 up to, but not including, 17:00. An overnight window such as 22:00–02:00 also works.

Day of week

Choose one or more weekdays. Combine Friday AND 08:00–10:00 to match that window on Fridays only. With OR, either condition can match, so choose the combination carefully.

Rule order and fallback

Enabled rules are checked in their saved order. The first match wins. If no rule matches, the scan opens your fallback URL. Choose a useful, permanent page for that default.

Set up scheduled QR destinations

  1. Create a dynamic QR code. Save it to your account, then open its details from your dashboard. A static QR embeds the final URL and cannot use these routing rules.
  2. Choose a fallback URL. In Destination & Smart Routing, use a page that makes sense outside your scheduled hours.
  3. Add rules and destinations. Select time-of-day and day-of-week conditions, the timezone for each, and AND or OR. Check the order when windows overlap.
  4. Save and test before printing. Scan during a matching window and outside it. Check that every destination opens on a phone and that your fallback works. A time window with identical start and end times never matches.

Use the venue timezone for local schedules. For an overnight shift, the weekday condition checks the local day at scan time: a Saturday scan at 01:00 needs Saturday selected, even if the shift began on Friday.

Use the Friday schedule above to switch from check-in to the agenda and then feedback without replacing signs. For a one-off conference, turn those recurring rules off afterward and change the default URL to recordings.

On Saturdays AND 10:00–14:00, send scans to an open-house information page. At other times, use the listing page or inquiry form. After the property sells, disable the rule and update the default destination.

What the current routing rules support

InsightQR currently supports recurring time-of-day and day-of-week rules. Calendar-date ranges, country, language, device, and first-time versus returning visitor conditions are not available. Scan analytics and routing conditions are separate features.

Your linked pages supply the agenda, form, or property details. InsightQR chooses which URL opens; it does not create those destinations for you.
