WHY DYNAMIC QR CODES

Why product teams use dynamic QR codes.

01 — DYNAMIC

Update the URL after the print run.

Launched a new tutorial video? Updated your reorder page? Change the QR destination without printing new labels or recalling stock. Your packaging investment is protected.

02 — REUSE

Reuse QR codes across product versions.

When a product is reformulated or relaunched, redirect the same QR to updated content. Existing packaging in stock or in the field keeps working.

03 — ANALYTICS

See which SKUs generate the most engagement.

Create separate QR codes per product or batch. Compare scan volumes to understand which products drive the most post-purchase engagement.

04 — BRAND

QR codes designed for the shelf.

Customize colors and dot styles to fit your label design. A QR code that complements your packaging is more likely to get scanned — and more on-brand.

EXAMPLE WORKFLOW

One label. Always pointing to the right place.

A brand prints QR codes on a product label linking to a tutorial video. Six months later, they publish a better tutorial. They update the QR destination in the dashboard. Every label already on shelves or in customers' hands now points to the new video automatically — no reprinting, no stock recall.

01

Print QR codes on the packaging

Each QR links to a tutorial video or product page. Customers scan after purchase.

02

Update the destination without recalling stock

You release a new tutorial video. Update the QR destination in the dashboard. Every label already in the field points to the new content automatically.

03

Track engagement per product

See which SKUs and batches generate the most scans. Use the data to improve the post-purchase experience for your next product launch.

ANALYTICS

See which products drive post-purchase engagement.

Create separate QR codes per product or batch. Compare scan volumes to understand which SKUs generate the most engagement, and use the data to improve the post-purchase experience.

  • Scan count per QR code
  • Peak scan times after purchase
  • Visitor country and device type
  • Compare across products or batches

Production checklist

Check the actual label, on the actual product

  1. 01

Decide whether a QR belongs to a SKU, batch or product version before exporting the artwork. Keep a record of that mapping.

  2. 02

Test after applying the label. Curves, seams, shrink-wrap and glossy finishes can make a flat artwork proof misleading.

  3. 03

Leave the QR clear of folds and preserve its white border. Start with dark modules on a light background.

  4. 04

Keep instructions for old stock available. A link change is not a substitute for correcting information printed on the package.

FAQ

Common questions.

Can I update the URL after labels have already been printed?

With a dynamic QR code you can change the destination URL at any time. Labels already printed and products already on shelves keep working — they always point to the current destination.

Can I use different QR codes for different products or SKUs?

Create a separate QR code for each product or SKU. You can then compare scan volumes to understand which products generate the most post-purchase engagement.

Can I reuse a QR code when a product is reformulated or relaunched?

Reuse it only when the destination remains appropriate for every package carrying that code. If a reformulation changes ingredients or instructions, use distinct QR codes for the versions and keep old product information accessible.

Can I link to a video, a reorder page, or a loyalty program?

A dynamic QR code can point to any URL: a tutorial video, a reorder page, a loyalty program, or a product registration form. You can also change the destination whenever you need to.

Do static QR codes always work?

Static QR codes encode the destination URL directly. They do not depend on InsightQR redirects, but the destination website must remain available. Their encoded URL cannot be edited after printing.

What happens if I cancel?

If you cancel, you keep access to paid features until the end of your billing period. After that, your existing dynamic QR codes continue redirecting to their last saved destination, so your printed labels do not suddenly stop working. Editing, analytics, new dynamic QR code creation, and advanced features are paused until you reactivate. Canceled accounts include a fair-use scan limit. Static QR codes do not depend on our redirect service; their destination must still remain available.

What if old and new product batches need different instructions?

Use a separate QR and destination for each version or batch when the instructions differ. Updating a single shared code changes the destination for every package carrying it, including old stock. Keep the correct instructions accessible for products already sold.
